Everyone had deep seeded memories of where they were during the events of 9/11/01.

I was working at a radio station in Allentown-Bethlehem, PA and were where in the same time zone as New York City, Eastern time zone. I was in my office when one of the members of the morning show came in just after 9a and ask if they could have the portable radio to listen to the local news station. They had a television on in the studio and told me a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. I said "you've got be kidding me". I went into the studio and they had The Today Show on and there was this live shot of a hole with smoke coming out of the tower. My first reaction was a small plane must have hit it. Most people know a military aircraft had hit the Empire State Building in the 40's.

We began reporting the incident live on the air and saw the unbelievable, another plane went into the other tower. By this time we figured out this was a terrorist attack. The entire staff went into action. We began making call, looking on the internet, which in 2001 was still in it's infancy of information. One of the personalities went to the airport, down the street and we found out aircraft were being ordered to land and every flight in the air was being diverted to the closest airport. The towers began to fall one, after another.

By this time, the next plane hit the Pentagon. We were absolutely dumbstruck. How could this be happening, what was going on? Within an hour and change, the flight over Pennsylvania was being hijacked and  turned around heading to Washington D.C. The station was in full emergency mode. We began playing only patriotic music, went non-stop information on a music station. It wasn't until mid-afternoon we began to get the information that it was full fledged terrorist attack. The emotions ran strong and we were drained from the experience.
