Your Elevator Is Lying To You

Wyoming has two escalators, (4 if you don’t count them in pairs) and both sets are in Casper banks. We have millions of stairs and too many elevators to count. The tallest building in Wyoming is the 12 story White Hall in Laramie and they have 3 elevators… that lie. In fact, most all elevators lie.

Those “door close” buttons are fake, and they don’t work, by design.. When The Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 came into effect, the buttons were disconnected to allow enough time for people with wheelchairs, canes and crutches to make it into the lift.

The buttons added before 1990 were disconnected and the buttons added after that, are there for tradition and the psychological effect of a feeling of control. Otherwise, they don’t do a thing.

You have been and are being played. But tell the truth, knowing what you now know, will you still push the button?
