Wyoming senior linebacker D.J. May has been suspended one game for a violation of team rules and will miss Saturday’s game against UC Davis.

Head Coach Craig Bohl made the announcement via press release from the University of Wyoming Tuesday.

May ranks second on the Cowboy defense with 17 tackles through two games. That includes three tackles for loss and one sack. He is also averaging 29.8 yards on four kick-off returns this season.

The result means junior Tim Kamana will start at strong-side linebacker in place of May. He will be backed up by freshman Cassh Maluia. Redshirt freshman Ben Wisdorf will be the back-up to starter Logan Wilson at weak-side linebacker.

May will also be replaced on kick-off returns by either Austin Conway or Rico Gafford.

There will be no further comment from anyone with UW Athletics or the Wyoming Football program regarding May’s one-game suspension.

This marks the third one-game suspension for May in his career. He sat out the San Jose State game during the 2014 season and the Eastern Michigan game in 2015.
