Wyoming Cowboys junior running back Brian Hill has been named as a candidate for the 2016 Doak Walker Award.

The PwC SMU Athletic Forum unveiled its list Thursday for the award that goes to the nation’s top college running back.

Hill was one of 11 semifinalists in 2015, and the only one from a non-Power Five conference.

The 2015 season was a banner one for Hill. He averaged 135.9 rushing yards per game, good for No. 8 in the country. Hill was ninth in total rushing yards (1,631) and No. 13 in average all-purpose yards per game (146.9). His 1,631 rushing yards was a new single-season record for Wyoming Cowboy football.

There are three other running backs from the Mountain West that join Hill as a 2016 award candidate. They are Devante Mays of Utah State, Jacobi Owens from Air Force and Donnel Pumphrey of San Diego State.

Ten semifinalists will be revealed on Nov. 16. From that list, three finalists will be announced on Nov. 22. The 2016 Doak Walker Award winner will be revealed on Dec. 8 as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
