We asked you what you preferred to say as a holiday greeting - Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas. Then if any greeting was offensive. Your votes are in and there is a clear preference for Merry Christmas here in Wyoming.

Some of the comments on Facebook spoke quite eloquently on the subject. When someone says Merry Christmas that it is in the spirit of the holidays. No one says Merry Christmas to put someone down.

Here are some of the comments from our Facebook page:

Either way, someone is saying something nice to you, so shouldn't we just focus on that instead of what words are used, whether people celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or just the holiday season in general? By all means, let's let how we wish each other joy be one more thing to argue over...

Merry Christmas - but if it's before Thanksgiving, if it's Happy Holidays, I assume it's to cover Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's possibly too.

Either is acceptable to me because there's more than just Christmas right know. But the closer we get to Christmas, the more I use Merry Christmas. To say that happy holidays is PC garbage, it nonsense!

There were a few others who echoed the opposition to political correctness. To the people who responded to the second poll of what offends you, some found "Happy Holidays" to be offensive. Most were not offended by any greeting.

It is also important to note that Wyoming is predominately Christian. Doing a quick Google search, I found only two Jewish synagogues, two Islamic mosques, zero Buddhist temples in the entire state of Wyoming. There were hundreds of churches in various denominations.

Regardless of your faith, most Wyomingites can agree this is a time to celebrate and be jolly. Please pass the eggnog.
