Requited is a short film in the classic western style, about revenge and redemption.  It is also the winner of this year's Wyoming Short Film competition.

The film was written by Mark Christian and directed by Madeline Puzzo and was filmed in both Arizona and Pennsylvania, but takes place in the Wyoming Territory circa 1875.

"The idea here is that we want to provide exposure to the creative community in Wyoming and about Wyoming," says Colin Stricklin, film arts entertainment specialist for the Wyoming Film Office.  "The thing is all films have to have ties to the state.  Whether it's shot here or just set here."

The filmmakers behind Requited are taking home, as their prize, $25,000 towards the production budget of a film to be shot in Wyoming.  Stricklin says that Mark Christian already has an eye toward what that project will be, a movie called Front Galley.

"They're looking to do a historical sort of picture, they want to do a viking movie," says Stricklin.  "They want to use the Nordic looking locations in the state.  The high cliffs that look like the fjords."

This was the sixth short film to be awarded top honors in the Wyoming Short Film competition's history.  Stricklin says that they'll be planning for the 2014 contest to begin next January.

Here is the winning film Requited.  It does contain some violence, viewer discretion is advised.
