Wyoming Fares Well On “Hate Map”

Hate Map
humboltd.edu

Humboldt State University has used data from Twitter to create a “Hate Map.”

The map shows areas which recorded homophobic, racist, or other prejudicial tweets.

Every geocoded tweet sent from June 2012 to April 2013 was used in the data.  The map shows a steady flow of racist tweets from southern and east coast states.

While Wyoming showed less hate than the majority of states, it appeared for “some hate” in several racist and homophobic categories. Negative comments about people with disabilities registered high in Eastern Wyoming.
