If I had asked you a couple of months ago who Colby Kirkegaard was I would venture to guess you wouldn't have any idea. I didn't know who he was. Now the red shirt senior quarterback is getting his name out there. Yesterday the senior quarterback threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns, including the game winner with 58 seconds left, to guide the University of Wyoming Cowboy football team (2-0, 1-0) to a hard-fought 17-13 win over the Air Force Academy Falcons (1-1, 0-1) on Saturday night at the War. I didn't think they were going to pull it off. The Cowboys trailed the majority of the game in front of 21,246 fans, before outscoring the Falcons 10-3 in the final quarter to pick up the 300th home win in program history. New head coach Craig Bohl was well aware how hard the win was.""This was certainly one of those. It was a hard-fought game, lots of ebbs and flows during the course of the game and a lot of momentum to have our players keep believing in our system. We have room for improvement, no question, but this was a hard-fought win and we are going to enjoy it." Kirkegaard's career day came on 23-of-37, including two 41-yard strikes to senior wide receiver Dominic Rufran. Kirkegaard posted career highs in touchdown passes, yards, completions and attempts. The Cowboys will have their work cut out for them as they go to Oregon to play the Ducks next Saturday at noon. The game can be heard on our sister station AM 1030 KTWO. http://www.gowyo.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/090714aaa.html
