It took some extra time, but the Wyoming Cowboys won their Mountain West opener Saturday night against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

Cassh Maluia's interception on Hawaii's possession in overtime sealed a 28-21 victory. After the game the Cowboys got to hoist the Paniolo Trophy, which is the traveling trophy in the series against the Rainbow Warriors. They enjoyed the moment along with students that rushed the field.

Wyoming (2-2, 1-0) won the 23rd meeting in the series against Hawaii. They will finish non-conference play next Saturday against Texas State. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. from War Memorial Stadium.
