I asked: “How late are you working today? Saturday night, party time awaits,.” Supermarket checkout guy answered: “About 7 more minutes, but Saturday night means nothing. I’m just going to go home to my wife. All our friends have kids, but we don’t” Even being married cannot keep you from being alone sometimes.

And then there’s being single. For the first time in the U.S. if you’re single, you’re now in the majority. More than half of all American adults are not married. Since government tracking began in 1976, only 37.4% of adults were single. Now, it’s up to about 51.2%.
