Happy Mother's Day to all of the hardworking moms in Wyoming. You have the toughest, and most important, job and many of you do it while balancing another full time job. Unfortunately, a new study suggests that professional opportunities for working mothers in Wyoming fall far below the national average.

According to the finance website Wallet Hub, Wyoming ranks 43rd in the nation when it comes to career advancement for working moms. Their study is based on several factors effecting mothers in the workplace, including salary, unemployment rates, access to child care and the percentage of female executives.

The news isn't all bad for Wyoming mothers. While WYO women have difficulty climbing the corporate ladder, the availability, cost and quality of child care in our state is near the national average. Wyoming also ranks among the top 20 states for "work-life balance". Overall, Wyoming ranks 36th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia for mothers in the workforce.

Vermont, Minnesota, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Massachusetts were ranked as the best states for working moms. Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama and Nevada were the worst ranked states. Click here for the full results of Wallet Hub's 2015 Best and Worst States for Working Moms study.
