Growing up, I had the raddest Trapper Keeper in the entire school. Sure, the kids with the sports car Trapper Keeper thought they were better than everyone, but my Trapper had a palm tree and sunglasses and the back was covered in Garbage Pail Kids stickers.

Sadly, many students here in Wyoming will never know what it's like to be that cool.

While there are no specific district-wide policies prohibiting Trapper Keepers, many teachers have banned them.

Critics cite several reasons to keep them out of the classroom. Some teachers believe they present a distraction for kids. They are also bulky and difficult to fit into desks. Security concerns have also been raised.

Those arguments are ridiculous. Distracting? Everything is a distraction for kids. Too big? They're smaller and lighter than textbooks. Dangerous? The convenient pocket actually provides a safe place for children to store their scissors and protractors.

There are only two plausible explanations to explain the ban. Either they saw the South Park episode where Eric Cartman was eaten by his Trapper Keeper, or some teachers are still harboring deep-seeded childhood jealousy because their parents made them use three-ring binders and paper folders.
