Have you had a problem like I am having with my car? Into one of the local dealerships twice in two weeks with waiting, un returned calls, no information when calls are returned?

I have been pretty happy with my car, it's a 2011 in excellent condition.  But things do happen. I have an extended warranty, which dealers hate if you didn't buy it through them. It was purchased in California and luckily, when we moved to Alaska before coming here, the same dealership was there. I've been happy with regular oil changes here. But we had a problem where the key fob wasn't working to start the car. Then the emergency key wouldn't work.

All along there was a problem with the door jamb interior light switch. So into the dealer with the car. It was so drained from the switch problem it wouldn't start, I had to have it towed to the local dealership. After a few days, after telling them about the switch, they simply changed the cars battery after billing me for $200.00 labor to try to find the problem. They had massaged the invoice so it looked like only 38.00 was billed for working on the light problem.

They said the car was ready. Paid $330.00, $200.00 in labor and a hundred and change for a new battery. It was the factory battery, so it was torched with this electrical issue. OK, we figure good to go. One week later, My wife Janis calls me and and says the car is dead again. So I come over and jump it, it starts and we take it back to the dealership. Open the hood while I was there and see the engine cover had not been secured the last time in there and the cover for the positive lead on the battery is missing. Tell the same service adviser that the problem was not fixed. Took the car in a Tuesday, they called and said it was the door jamb switch, which they should have fixed by charging me 200.00 one week ago.

I called the extended warranty company and told them what was going on. They said this is all covered with no deductible. Three days go by, I called everyday and the part still hasn't come in. By Friday I'm freakin' pissed. I find out I am waiting on a $5.00 part. They said they a tracing it. Never called back. I go do a Blackhawk Down and get the car from the local dealership. It's now at a local repair place that has a real good reputation, they said the bad interior light door jamb switch is causing a power drain, Part is on order and we should be good to go.

It's hard to trust auto repair facilities anywhere, big or small cities. When you find a good mechanic, it's like Seinfeld. Sex is secondary to a good mechanic.
