UNDATED (AP) — Golden State Warriors guard Stephen (STEH’-fen) Curry set an NBA season high with 54 points Wednesday night and fell one shy of the league mark of 12 three-pointers. He shot 18-for-28 overall and 11-for-13 from beyond the arc while collecting seven assists and six rebounds. But it wasn’t enough for the Warriors to avoid a 109-105 loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

J.R. Smith, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler allowed New York to overcome Curry’s best game as a pro. Smith finished with 26 points, including the tiebreaking shot with 70 seconds remaining. Anthony dropped in a team-high 35 points, while Chandler added 16 and a career-best 28 rebounds.

Just two games separate the Western Conference-leading San Antonio Spurs from Oklahoma City after the Phoenix Suns handed the Spurs just their third loss in 25 home games.

San Antonio had an 18-game home winning streak until Jermaine O’Neal scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to led the Suns past the Spurs 105-101 in overtime. Goran Dragic had 13 points and 13 assists as the Suns beat the Spurs for the first time in seven tries.

Tony Parker had 22 points for the Spurs, who shot 0-for-10 in overtime.

Russell Westbrook scored 29 points and Kevin Durant had a triple-double as the Thunder crushed New Orleans 119-74. Durant finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the Thunder, who outscored the Hornets 57-29 in the second half and rested the starters in the final period.

The win leaves the Thunder 42-15 overall, and 26-4 at home.

Elsewhere in the NBA, Memphis matched a team record for largest comeback in team history by turning a 25-point deficit into a 90-84 triumph over Dallas. Trailing by 25 in the second quarter, the Grizzlies went on a 36-4 run spanning halftime, including the 20-0 rally to open the third quarter. Zach Randolph scored 22 points and Marc Gasol added 21 in the Grizzlies’ eighth straight win.

Ty Lawson poured in 30 points and Andre Iguodala (ihg-ah-DAH’-lah) added 29 as Denver topped Portland 111-109. Iguodala also had eight assists and five steals in the Nuggets’ third straight win.

Milwaukee pulled out a 110-107 win at Houston behind 27 points from Monta (MAHN’-tay) Ellis. Ersan Ilyasova added 20 points and a team-high 10 rebounds to help the Bucks overcome Omer Asik’s 16 points and 22 boards.

Al Horford had 34 points and 15 rebounds in Atlanta’s 102-91 win at Utah. Josh Smith also had a double-double for the Hawks, finishing with 24 points 14 rebounds.

Brandon Knight returned from a right knee injury to score a career-high 32 points in Detroit’s 96-95 win at Washington. Greg Monroe added 26 points and 11 rebounds in the Pistons’ sixth straight win over the Wizards.

John Salmons scored 21 points and Sacramento ended a six-game skid by outscoring Orlando 125-101. Marcus Thornton had 20 points for the Kings, who hit 10 three-pointers in winning on the road for the first time in 10 tries.

Cleveland missed 14 of its first 15 shots before rallying for a 103-92 victory over Toronto. Rookie Dion Waiters scored 23 points and Shaun Livington added 15 as the Cavaliers finished February 7-5, their first winning month since March 2010.
