On my birthday a few weeks ago I put together a special party. My son, a couple of closes friends, a bad ass turntable, nice amp, great speakers. And a whole bunch of vinyl. The sound freaked my 21 year old son out. The sound truly is different. Analog is better than digital for my ears. Some don't think so but I do. And slow but surly people are easing back into vinyl. Yep people are buying albums. Vinyl album sales are flourishing as figures show they could pass the million mark by the end of the year - the best return for almost 20 years. Now that's not any thing record breaking but it's a "trend." The Official Charts Company figures show almost 800,000 vinyl albums have been sold in the first nine months of this year - already beating last year's total of 780,674.The last time vinyl topped a million sales was in 1996 when they shifted 1,083,206 albums. A spokesman for music industry body the BPI said: "Vinyl may once have been considered a by-product of a bygone era but it is now well and truly a flourishing format making a come-back in a digital age." It's about time. Now all we have to do is get a radio station to start playing vinyl. http://nr.news-republic.com/Web/ArticleWeb.aspx?regionid=1&articleid=30455041&m=d
