The last time Van Halen released a studio album with David Lee Roth, it would have seemed awfully strange, to say the least, for a major band to promote its new music by debuting tracks on a TV drama. But times have changed, and as part of the rollout plan for their new album ‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ VH is including clips from two new songs in this week’s episode of ‘CSI,‘ which airs tonight (Jan. 25) on CBS.

The songs in question are the leadoff single ‘Tattoo‘ (which we’ve all heard) and the 11th track on the new record, ‘Stay Frosty’ (which we haven’t). No word on how much of each song will be played, or how hard you’ll have to strain to hear it under all the crime-solving, but hey — it beats waiting another two weeks to hear anything from the album, right?

The band is definitely doing its part to ease the wait between now and Feb. 7, between the ‘CSI’ promotion and things like David Lee Roth’s recent ‘Tattoo’ exegesis or posting the unplugged version of ‘You Really Got Me’ that will come bundled with the deluxe version of the new album.

The release date will be here before we know it — and then we’ll just have to wait for Feb. 18, when Van Halen kicks off its 2012 tour. Got your tickets yet? If not, we’ve got a chance for you to win two for a show of your choosing!
