UFO, Robin Trower and Ten Years After Open Archives for Live CDs

UFO, Robin Trower, and Ten Years After
Chrysalis Records

If it’s live performances from British classic rockers you’re in the mood for, Rhino’s got you covered this fall.

The label’s series of reissues from the Chrysalis Records vaults will yield a bounty of riches for rock fans on Oct. 8, when three double-disc sets are scheduled for release: UFO‘s ‘Hot ‘N’ Live: The Chrysalis Live Anthology 1974-1983,’ Robin Trower‘s ‘State to State: Live Across America 1974-1980′ and Ten Years After‘s ‘Recorded Live.’

UFO’s ‘Hot ‘N’ Live’ assembles a track listing “packed with rare live tracks,” including eight previously unreleased performances from 1980, including the ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and ‘Love to Love.’” The set is split chronologically, with the first disc focusing on guitarist Michael Schenker’s 1974-78 tenure with the band, and the second collecting cuts from 1980-83, when his replacement Paul ‘Tonka’ Chapman was in the lineup. The CD also includes new liner notes culled from a recent interview with bassist and founding member Pete Way.

Trower’s ‘State to State’ offers a live glimpse of his early years as a solo artist following his departure from Procol Harum. The set collects 24 previously unreleased performances recorded in Philadelphia and California (1974), Illinois (1976), Oklahoma (1977) and Missouri (1980), including ‘Too Rolling Stoned’ and ‘Day of the Eagle’ from his hit 1974 album ‘Bridge of Sighs.’

Finally, Ten Years After’s ‘Recorded Live’ offers a new and improved version of the original double album, which was released in 1973. In addition to freshly remastered sound, the expanded track listing adds seven previously unreleased performances, including a cover of Lightnin’ Hopkins’ ‘I Woke Up This Morning.’
