On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic, largest ship ever at the time, left Southampton, England on her maiden voyage to New York City. On board were some of the world's wealthiest enjoying the luxury of first class accommodations and immigrants packed into steerage below decks.

103 years ago today, she was four days into her journey, when at 11:40 P.M. on the night of April 14, she struck an iceberg and slowly sank to the bottom of The Atlantic Ocean. In the arrogance of over confidence, the Titanic only had 20 lifeboats for her 2,200 passengers.

The story has become legend and will be the subject of discussion Tuesday night, at 7p.m. in The Cottonwood Room of the Laramie County Public Library 2200 Pioneer Avenue in Cheyenne.

RSVP with The Cheyenne Genealogical and Historical Society at 630-0924.
