Micheal McLearon-Getty Images Tim Tebow is....well the next thing to a perfect image. Lately Tim's image is getting a little tarnished.

According to Kimberley Martin of News Day Tim's image has taken a little rust on the edges.  Tim Tebow has never been shy about discussing religion, but the Jets quarterback has decided to cancel his upcoming appearance at a controversial Dallas church.

Tebow was scheduled to speak April 28 at First Baptist Church of Dallas, led by pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress, who reportedly is vehemently against homosexuality, Jews, Catholics and Muslims.

"While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April," Tebow tweeted, "due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!"

First Baptist later issued a statement explaining that Tebow called Jeffress to say that for "personal and professional reasons, he needed to avoid controversy at this time but would like to come to First Baptist Dallas to speak at a future date. In the words of a local sports caster..."Hey Tim....go long."
