We could have had two rock stars shot down, 19 years ago today. Luck had it go another way.

Music’s chief parrot head and his friend, the singer from a band called U2, were hanging in Jamaica on January 16th of 1996. Jimmy had left Bono and his family on the island and was cruising at tree-top level over the beach along the coast of the Caribbean country in his seaplane, the Hemisphere Dancer. Local authorities thought he was smuggling drugs and they opened fire on the plane.

No one was hurt, but there were a few holes in the plane. It was a Jamaica Mistaica for Jimmy Buffet.
