The River Remembers February 16, 2005- Hockey Season Got Cancelled!
Mmk so, unless you’re Canadian, hockey isn’t THAT huge of a deal to you. You’ll watch it if it’s on and nothing else is, but other than that…meh. But on this day in 2005, the entire world seemed to have it’s collective eye on the NHL, because it was decided that there would be no 2004-2005 season! Yep! They cancelled hockey season! Canucks everywhere were pissed. The reason was because of a labour dispute, but nobody cared about that. All they cared about was their precious Stanley Cup- a cup that had been awarded annually since 1919. This was the first time a major sport cancelled an entire season, and it was the first year that the Cup was not awarded. Wayne Gretsky rolled over in his grave…
…what’s that? You say he’s not dead? Oh. Well. He’s the only Hockey player I know of, so for the purpose of this post, he’s dead. Here’s a random hockey video that just makes me laugh.
