A few weeks ago we heard that 'The Killing' might be due for a resurrection, as Fox TV studios was nearing a deal between both AMC and Netflix that would see Detectives Linden and Holder returning to the Seatle crime beat once more, despite AMC's earlier passing on a third season. Now, new developments have all-but-guaranteed 'The Killing' will indeed return, but will the same cast be present? What story would 'The Killing' season 3 follow?

Rosie Larsen may be dead, but it seems 'The Killing' has been spared her fate. While earlier reports suggested that Netflix and AMC were eying a deal to split costs on a third season, now Variety reports that show-runner Veena Sud and executive producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin have officilaly re-entered the writers room to begin plotting the series' third outing.

Neither Fox TV studios nor AMC have confirmed anything yet, though it also remains to be seen who from the original cast would appear in a third season. Both series leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, while contractually bound to a third season, have several high-profile movie projects in the works, including 'Robocop' and 'World War Z.' Billy Campbell could return as Seattle's new Mayor Darren Richmond, though we wouldn't expect Brent Sexton and Michelle Forbes, parents in the now-resolved Rosie Larsen case to return.

Even without official confirmations, production is likely to begin within the next few months for a May air-date.  'The Killing' season 3 would air on AMC first, before eventually moving to Netflix.

What say you?  Are you happy to have 'The Killing' back?  What would you like to see play out in a third season?
