After a cold, wet spring, the weather is finally starting to warm up here in Wyoming. Just in time for summer, here's a look back at the hottest days ever recorded here in the Cowboy State.

According to the Wyoming Climate Atlas, the warmest day in Wyoming history was July 12, 1900, when the mercury hit 116 degrees at the Bitter Creek weather station in the Red Desert.

That record was nearly broken on August 7, 1983, when Worland reached 115. The very next day, the temperature hit 115 degrees again in nearby Basin, Wyoming.

Cheyenne's hottest day on record was June 24, 1954, when the temperature reached 104.

Nearly a month later, on July 12, 1954, Casper set a record at 104.4 degrees. The temperature reached 104 in Casper again on July 30, 2006.

Sheridan has climbed over 105 on several occasions. On July 15, 2002, Sheridan set a record high of 107.

Although Laramie temperature records only date back to 1948, the hottest day on record was July 9, 1976, when the mercury peaked at 97 at a weather station two miles northwest of town.
