September 23, 1949, Bruce Springsteen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey. The world was given a rock & roll gift on that day.

Bruce has written, produced  and performed some many classic tunes, as well the soundtrack to a couple of generations. He may have been born Bruce, nowadays we just call him, "The Boss!"

The Boss may have reached retirement age, but he shows little sign of slowing down. This past year alone, Springsteen released his 18th studio album, High Hopes; played more than 35 concerts in support of the record; and co-directed a short film to accompany his new song "Hunter of Invisible Game." He also was on hand to induct his longtime backing group, The E Street Band, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Next up for Bruce is a headlining performance at the eighth annual edition of the Stand Up for Heroes benefit show on November 5 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The concert raises money for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which provides funds and services for military personnel returning from active duty, veterans and their families.

The event takes place a day after Outlaw Pete, an illustrated storybook based on the epic 2009 Springsteen song of the same name, will be published. Meanwhile, it's a good bet that the Boss will treat fans to more new music and more shows in the not-too-distant future.
