It was the birth of major rock festivals, when about 50,000 people showed up for the live music. The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin & Simon & Garfunkel become international stars overnight due to the media coverage.  All artists performed for free except for Ravi Shankar.

When the Monterey International Pop Festival, opened on June 16th of 1967 in California. Eric Burden and The Animals captured the feel and set it to music with Monterey, Steve Cooper's Daily Dinosaur.
