Last year a man from England named Bart Simpson was arrested for having a firearm in an airport. Simpson is 56, so you can't blame his parents for giving him the kind of name that would result in ridicule and, eventually, a life of crime. ('The Simpsons' has been on for that long. It only seems like it.)

It was just fate that he ended up with the same name as a cartoon troublemaker. And when his trial began earlier this month fate struck again. Bart Simpson would be facing a judge named Mr. Burns.

When we heard about ‘The Simpsons’ Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge, in which ‘Simpsons’ fanatics would compete to see who could watch all 500 episodes of Springfield’s finest in a row, we said it couldn’t be done. Eighty-six hours and 37 minutes of continuous TV watching without any sleep just seemed too much for any human to endure, even though ‘Simpsons’ fans are made of strong stuff (and also beer and doughnuts).

It turns out we were wrong.

Fans of ‘The Simpsons’ were thrown into a panic a couple of weeks ago when word leaked that the voice actors on the show were holding out for more money. Fox said if they couldn’t come to an agreement this current season would be the last for the show.

Marge Simpson thought it was unfair when Barbara Bush labeled ‘The Simpsons‘ “the dumbest thing I had ever seen” during an interview the then-First Lady did in 1990.

So Marge wrote Barbara a letter in which she explained that she was “deeply hurt” by the criticism, and that she wasn’t sure why Bush hadn’t given her family “the benefit of the doubt.”
