If there’s one thing Saturday Night Live has been getting right for decades now, it’s commercial parodies. Cheesy cold commercials may be an easy target, but that doesn’t make this sketch starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig any less funny.
Former ‘SNL‘ castmember, Will Ferrell is taking to the studio 8H stage once again to host the show that made him a star. Ferrell’s May 12th appearance follows those of fellow ‘Saturday Night Live’ alums, Jimmy Fallon and Maya Rudolph, who also had hosting gigs during this 37th season of the late night sketch show.
Gotye did more than just sing during his stint as musical guest on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ this weekend. The Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist also got in a little acting through a digital short with Andy Samberg and Taran Killam.
This weekend we were only expecting to see Lindsay Lohan on ‘Saturday Night Live’ but were pleasantly surprised when stylish stud Jon Hamm made a guest appearance. Even though Jimmy Fallon was only half kidding when he said the ‘Mad Men’ star was there as a backup host, we were secretly hoping he’d take over.
In one corner, we have Karmin, the musical duo that performed ‘Brokenhearted’ for the ‘Saturday Night Live‘ crowd this weekend. Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan got their start by becoming YouTube sensations, much like Lana Del Rey. Speaking of…
Thanks to Zooey Deschanel and ‘Saturday Night Live,’ we now finally have a song worthy to be the theme for Valentine’s Day. Sure there are all those classic ballads from the ’80s and ’90s, but there’s none quite like the one Deschanel performed during her opening monologue on Saturday that truly sums up what the day of love is all about.
Many were shocked and excited to hear that Lana Del Rey — the singer with a tremendous internet following, but no actual album to hock — was the musical guest for ‘Saturday Night Live.’ You know who wasn’t, though? Juliette Lewis and tons of other people on Twitter.
Clearly, the good people behind the Golden Globes just couldn’t get enough of Ricky Gervais‘ antics and mud-slinging comedy since they’ve asked him back for more. ‘Saturday Night Live‘ seems assured of his impending success on Sunday that it’s booked him up solid with similar hosting gigs… well, not really similar.
Jimmy Fallon returned to ‘Saturday Night Live’ last weekend to mock Justin Bieber, comedian Russell Brand and Sting. In a sketch spoofing Michael Buble‘s Christmas duets album — which is currently the No. 1 album in America — Fallon joins the real Buble for a few short songs.
Last night’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ was all about remembering the good times with ex-cast members like Jimmy Fallon, who hosted, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. All three big names are former Weekend Update anchors, and what better way for them to celebrate the fond memories than to throw down a good, old-fashioned ‘Joke Off?’
