Johnny Cash is one of the most powerful singer/song-writers that has ever lived. The live that he lived, and the stories that he's told via his music, are beautiful. He had quite the journey, and that's why his cover of Nine Inch Nail's 'Hurt' is so magnetic and poignant. He didn't write the song, but you know he means every word that he sings. And you can tell by looking into his eyes that there's something inside of the man that, in his final days, he was trying to get out.

I may be one of Michael Jackson's biggest fans. Even in the midst of all of his courtroom drama, I stood by his side (metaphorically) and preached his innocence. When he died, I cried. I went to the opening night of This Is It, and sat by myself, and cried throughout the whole thing...Then I shot guns and whiskey, to reclaim my manhood.

Simon and Garfunkel are one of my favorite bands. I grew up listening to them, because my parents loved them. Now that I'm a grown man, I still love them, and "Mrs. Robinson" is still one of my favorite songs of all time. So when I heard that The Lemonheads did a cover of it, I wanted to hate it. I really really wanted to hate it. But then I heard it. And I couldn't. While not as...sweet...as the original, The Lemonheads bring a new energy to the song that you can't help but want to rock out to.

I have never heard of this cover before, but I absolutely love it. Mostly this is due to David Lee Roth's awesome synth-playing, but the whole song is fantastic. I loved the original and I love Van Halen, so now it's like my two worlds have collided into one awesome song.

I'm pretty sure I've had a crush on Tori Amos since the day I was born. Her song, 'Winter,' is one of the most beautiful, most haunting songs I've ever heard. Her haunting voice, mixed with her melodic piano creates an ambiance that never fails to give me chills. So naturally, Nirvana's arguably most popular song would be covered by her...or something. Whatever. At the risk of sounding sacreligious, I actually like this better than the original...Be gentle.

Basically every musical style in the world can somehow be traced back to Blues. And, in my humble opinion, the granddaddy of the Blues scene is Robert Johnson. Dude was a genius, and so before his time. The mythology behind him is super interesting too. Did he ACTUALLY go down to the crossroads and sell his soul to the devil? We'll never know. But his song, 'Crossoads,' is one of the greatest blues songs of all time.

In this new feature, we will be featuring bands and individuals who are covering other bands or individuals. There's really no basis for the qualification, other than whether we like them or not. In this first video, Indie-Rockish 30 Seconds To Mars covers 'Message In A Bottle' by legendary band The Police. The original song is fantastic, and the cover holds up as well. Plus, Jared Leto is a super good looking dude. In a totally heterosexual way. We've gotta please the ladies that visit this site too, chu know??
