Special Screening of “Pasadena” By Casper Native Lucas Lee Graham
“Pasadena” will be shown in association with 15th Annual Wyoming High School Short Film Festival at The Rialto Theater at 9:45 P.M. Graham will introduce the film and be available for Q&A / interviews immediately after the screening. The comedy-drama centers on an eccentric upper-class family that slowly unravels during a Thanksgiving Day celebration. It features renowned film director and actor Peter Bogdanovich (The Sopranos, The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, What’s Up Doc, Mask); Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Suburgatory) Deborah Alicia Witt (Friday Night Lights, Cybill), Ashton Holmes (Revenge, A History of Violence) Sonya Walger (FlashForward, Lost) and Amy Ferguson (The Master, Social Network). The film debuted to good reviews at the Sarasota Film Festival earlier this month.
Graham is a strong up-and-coming director of photography with an impressive professional resume. He grew up in Casper and discovered his vocation as a filmmaker during classes with Lance Madzey, a teacher at Natrona County High School. He developed his skills and now pursues a successful career in Los Angeles. Escape from Tomorrow, a film Graham DP’ed, debuted to acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival in January of this year. Portions of the film were shot guerilla-style at the Walt Disney Theme Park. The late film critic Roger Ebert chose Escape from Tomorrow for his annual film festival in Champaign, Illinois, shortly before his death. The Hollywood Reporter said of Graham’s work on Pasadena: “The single setting (elegantly rendered by production designer Raelyn Tepper) conveys the story’s emotional claustrophobia but never grows visually dull, thanks to the fluid work of cinematographer Lucas Lee Graham.” His success in the highly-competitive field of cinematography should lend inspiration and confidence to Wyoming’s talented young filmmakers.
