This week, officials at the Toronto Zoo intend to separate Pedro and Buddy, two “gay” male African penguins who appear to have pair-bonded with each other. Hey, this is 2011! Aren’t we more accepting of same-sex penguin couplings now?

But the penguin’s keepers insist the move isn’t anti-gay. Instead, they’re simply trying to preserve the critically-endangered species.
