As promised, the Rolling Stones played a special "secret" show in Los Angeles last night, performing their classic 1971 album Sticky Fingers in front of a star-studded crowd at the 1,200-seat Fonda Theatre.

You can watch a brief video clip above from the show, which served as a West Coast warm-up for the first date on the band's Zip Code Tour, scheduled to begin May 24 in San Diego. The Stones also billed it as an "intimate celebration" of their upcoming Sticky Fingers reissue, which is due June 9 and remasters and expands the album with an assortment of rare and previously unreleased material.

"Secret shows" are a long Stones tradition that goes back decades and includes a long list of gigs the band has performed under its alias the Cockroaches. Some of the most talked-about concerts in Stones history, including their 1977 set at the El Mocambo and their 1989 appearance at Toad's Place, came as surprises.

Tickets for the Fonda show, which were made available on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to two per customer, sold out almost immediately — and quite a few of them went to some of L.A.'s most famous residents, according to a Stones press release that lists Jack Nicholson, Bruce Willis, One Direction's Harry Styles, Don Was and Steven Van Zandt among those in attendance. Check out the complete set list below.
