Some Jackson Residents Going Home
JACKSON, WYO. (AP) — Several of the 60 or so people evacuated from the area of a slow-moving landslide in Jackson, Wyo., will be allowed to move back home soon.
Town officials say people whose homes aren’t at high risk will be allowed back in permanently starting Monday night.
The evacuation began Wednesday. Residents of four homes and two apartment buildings will remain under an evacuation order while town officials look at how to stabilize the hillside.
Town officials say returning homeowners won’t be allowed to drive to their homes, but will be able to walk to them.
Officials first noticed a large crack in the hillside April 4. They say the ground continues to move about an inch per day.
