Phil Anselmo Has Shares Thoughts on the Confederate Flag

Phil Anselmo is the latest Rock Star to weigh in on the Confederate Flag controversy.

It's a fact that Anselom's former band mate Dimebag Darrell played a guitar with the design, while his web store sells a t-shirt with the design.

However, in a recent interview he speaks of people being able to get along.

"Would we be flying the Nazi flag?" Anselmo says in an interview with Hard Rock Haven. "I don't think so because flags are looked at whether it be nationalism or symbols of something. Truthfully...I wish f**king everyone would get along."

There are more examples of the symbol being used by Anselmo's band Superjoint Ritual. Their debut album features the flag on the cover.

"In hindsight you know what I would have not used it,"

Anselmo says.

Why use the flag in the first place. It was a gesture to show love for Lynyrd Skynyrd, perhaps the most famous band to ever use the Confederate Flag.

"I think really where the use of the rebel flag or Confederate flag with us really came from was from our love of bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and what not," he says.

"These days, I wouldn't want anything to f**king do with it," Anselmo adds. "You see a Confederate flag out there that says 'Heritage, not hate.' I'm not so sure I’m buying into that."
