Ex-Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr attended the U.K. premiere of the documentary ‘George Harrison: Living in the Material World’ in London on October 2, as did the widows of their late band mates Harrison (Olivia Harrison) and John Lennon (Yoko Ono).

Their presence sent a loud and clear message about their love and respect for the so-called quiet member of the Fab Four. Other music notables on hand included Beatles producer George Martin and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.

“Every time I see something to do with George, it brings back more memories than you would believe,” McCartney said, according to Billboard. “He was my little mate on the school bus. A lot of fond memories. He’s sorely missed by us all.”

Directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese, ‘George Harrison: Living in the Material World’ covers Harrison’s artistic and personal life, including his spiritual and philanthropic pursuits. The film, which features interviews with McCartney, Starr, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and others, will air on HBO in two parts on October 5 and 6. A home-video release is set for 2012.
