Mother Nature gave us another taste of what is to come in the coming months, but it is just a small sample. Forecasters and almanacs are predicting a colder and snowier winter heading to the U.S. this winter. While a lot of forecasters didn't seem to predict last year's polar vortex that put vast parts of the country in the deep freeze, the almanacs called it.

What's to come? Only nature knows, but we need to be ready. Winterize your car and make sure it won't leave you stranded when you need it most. Have some emergency supplies like blankets, candles and some snacks ready as well.

Did you shut down your snow blower properly? Some swear by gas stabilizers while some don't, I'll leave that to you. I need to switch positions in my shed where the lawn mower moves to the rear and the snow blower gets the lead slot.

Did you disconnect your hoses so yet? While it wasn't a hard freeze, water in the hose and outside faucett can freeze and that has possibilities of major problems and expense if not tended to. Your lawn's irrigation system will need to be blown out if you have one.

These are just a few ideas of winter prep. What have I missed?
