It is now legal to openly carry a handgun in the state of Oklahoma.  The law went in effect today, and adds Oklahoma to a list of 43 other states that allow some form of "Open Carry".

Not just anybody can strap on iron, there are a few important things to know about the law.  You have to have a valid handgun license, you must keep all guns inside a belt or shoulder holster, and businesses have the right to choose to allow it or not.  Open carry is not allowed in certain areas like schools, sporting arenas, airports, and bars. However, restaurants where liquor isn't the main money maker, owners will be able to decide if firearms are allowed or not.
