15 miles west of Cheyenne, off of Happy Jack Road, hawks slice through the air above a serene landscape where beavers tend their dams of willow branches and mud. The animals turned a 3-mile section of North Crow Creek into beaver ponds full of beautiful and tasty Wyoming Game and Fish stocked brook trout.

Well, at least that’s how it’s supposed to be, but at John And Annie Woodhouse Recreation And Wildlife Habitat Area the Lower North Crow Reservoir water level is low. But only for long enough for The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities to remove silt and sediment in the reservoir.

This will increase the capacity of this Cheyenne water source and improve aquatic habitat. It will also allow the installation of a fishing pier for people with disabilities.

The project should be completed by the end of December and fish stocking will resume in 2018.

Just a reminder of the beauty that is close to Cheyenne and the work that goes into to keeping our treasures safe. Take a ride and visit.
