New Wildfires Erupt In Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming State Forestry Division reports a number of new fires starting around the state over the past weekend.

A new fire started northwest of Seminoe Reservoir in Albany County and has burned an estimated 3,000 acres . However, Seminoe State Park is not threatened.

The fire is about a mile north of the Seminoe Dam. About 300 firefighters have managed to contain about 10 percent of the fire. It was started by lightning and was first reported on Saturday.

State Forester Bill Crapser reports that there was heavy initial attack on new fires in northeast Wyoming and Platte county.

Crook, Weston, Campbell and Niobrara counties all are battling fires.

There was some good news. The Sawmill Canyon Fire near Glendo State Park has been contained.
