Another fire has broken out in Albany County, prompting evacuations for those in the Cottonwood Park and Bear Creek Road areas. Officials believe the Arapaho fire was sparked by lightning in the Laramie Peak area, and made a major wind-driven run late Thursday afternoon and evening.

It’s burning in mixed conifer, and generated a smoke column that could be seen from Interstate 25 near Wheatland. It is actively burning on private and Forest Service lands between Laramie Peak and Bearhead Mountain. It’s not yet known how many acres have burned.
