The live-action 'Halo' series was announced not too long ago, around the time that the Xbox One was unveiled. Though news about the series has been almost non-existent lately, it's now been reported that the pilot for the new 'Halo' series will be directed by Neill Blomkamp.

According to Latino Review's trusted sources, the director of 'District 9' will helm the live-action series. He's had experience working with the franchise, ever since directing a series of live-action shorts for Halo 3. Blomkamp was even originally slated to bring the silver screen adaptation to life, but left the project after development stalled out. It was then that we got 'District 9.' Other than this bit of purported news, nothing else is known about the Halo live-action series other than it's going to be produced by Steven Spielberg, and that it will be exclusive to the Xbox consoles whenever it starts airing.

We'll keep you updated on this story, but for now, imagine what a 'Halo' series directed by Blomkamp and produced by Spielberg would look like. We're thinking a lot of great shaky-cam action and some real exploration of character and what war means to the people in the trenches.
