When you get a bunch of young athletes together in August and you tell them they have a chance to make history. To do something no one before them has done before. If they just give their soul to a program, work their asses off, and help the guy next to you. They might listen. They might not. This season the players of the NCHS Mustangs Football team listened to Coach Harshman and the assistant coaches. This year the NCHS Mustangs finished their regular season un-defeated. They didn't lose a game. There will be nights when the seniors, having moved on to college, will sit in a dorm room with their friends and tell them "We went undefeated." The Mustangs finished off an unblemished regular season for the third time in the last four years after defeating Rock Springs, 56-0, on the road Friday. But the Mustangs say every result over the past two months should be erased from their memories immediately. "[Head coach Steve Harshman] was just talking about this regular season being over now and it's just a one-game season now," Natrona senior lineman Pete Bergman said. "We have to be ready each week. We have to be focused up for Evanston." This team knows however that the regular season doesn't mean anything. Unless you take care of the post season. "We have to stay focused on this one-game season," Natrona senior Layne O'Neal said. "We can't take our minds off that; otherwise it won't turn out that well."
