NC Teacher Named Natrona County School District Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Natrona County High School language arts teacher, Christopher Dresang, who was named the 2014 Teacher of the Year for Natrona County School District.

Mr. Dresang has been a language arts teacher at NCHS since 2008. He serves as a volleyball coach for the Amateur Athletic Union, is the founder of the NCHS Anime Club, and is involved in the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Prior to his employment with NCSD, he taught at the University of Wyoming for two years.

“Chris weaves his extensive knowledge of modern and classical literature into innovative, engaging lessons and courses,” said Janet Dawson, NCHS Language Arts Department Chair. “His brilliance shines in whatever endeavor he attempts.”

“Mr. Dresang is a huge asset to our school, students and staff. He is a very positive influence, motivating young people in a way few others could accomplish,” said Jennifer Horning, parent.

Mr. Dresang considers himself a role-model for his students and the community as a whole. He views his role as one to positively impact the climate and culture of a school.

“What makes someone a teacher is not just knowledge of the content but a passion for the world where students live and grow,” noted Dresang.

Chris holds Masters Degrees in both English and in Curriculum and Instruction. He received his principal endorsement in 2012 from the University of Wyoming. He also earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming.

Chris Dresang will be forwarded for consideration for Wyoming Teacher of the Year in mid-September. The State winner goes on to compete for the National honor that will be announced by President Obama in April.
