NBC Officially Passes on ‘Office’ Spin-Off’ ‘The Farm,’ Phew

The Office The Farm Cancelled
NBC

Well, the end times have officially arrived.  No, we’re not talking about Hurricane Sandy, but rather ‘The Office,’ whose fate has finally been sealed.  We knew ‘The Office’ itself would say goodbye after the current season, but now it seems that NBC has officially passed on picking up the Dwight Schrute-centric spin-off ‘The Farm.’  the backdoor pilot will still air as an ‘Office’ episode this season, but does this mean ‘The Office’ is gone for good?

Whether or not you hoped ‘The Office’ would live on through a Dwight Schrute-centric spin-off following his unique family on ‘The Farm,’ the man himself has taken hope away from us.  Rainn Wilson himself just announced over Twitter that NBC has opted not to move forward with ‘The Farm,’ despite keeping its place as a backdoor pilot to be shown as an episode of ‘The Office’s current, final season.

The backdoor pilot episode will feature ‘Parks and Recreation‘ show-runner Mike Schur returning ot the role of Cousin Mose, as well as Tom Bower playing Dwight’s great-uncle Heinrich, ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Community‘ star Matt Jones as Dwight’s mysterious cousin Zeke,  Thomas Middleditch as Dwight’s younger brother Jeb, and sister Fanny (‘Roswell’s Majandra Delfino).

Check out Rainn’s tweet below, and tell us if you would have liked to have seen ‘The Farm’ spin off from ‘The Office’ in the comments!
