Yesterday, music fans across the world were stunned when the Waterford Whispers News reported the death of Animal at the age of 66.

Beloved for his groundbreaking work with the band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, Animal was widely considered to be among the greatest drummers of all time.

According to the Waterford Whispers News story, the iconic rocker passed away due to complications from a rare illness known as Thread-Baring Syndrome.

The article quotes Animal's former band mates Dr. Teeth, Janice, Zoot and Floyd Pepper, who posted a online tribute which read, "We will never forget you, brother. You kept rocking ’til the very end. Be at peace now, and we’ll play again in that great Muppet Theatre in the sky."

Fans of the band were quick to react on social media. One longtime admirer referred to Animal's death as "right up there with the death of Mick Schrimpton of Spinal Tap."
