It's been quite the year for Metallica, who dropped their long-anticipated new album, Hardwired... To Self-Destruct back in November. They've been on a tremendous campaign so far, building up to the album's release and it's only the beginning of what will inevitably be a lengthy touring cycle in support of the record. The thrash legends will be making another television appearance with a performance set for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

"As you may have heard, we’re off to Los Angeles next week for some more shenanigans and while we’re there we’ve been invited to shut down a few streets and throw a massive block party with Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Metallica said in a statement on their website. The band will appear on set for an interview with Kimmel before heading outside to "play a few songs."

Fans who will be in the Los Angeles area will have the opportunity to win tickets to the show. Fifth Members (fan club members) can enter to win two tickets at the contest section of Metallica's website and others can score tickets by tuning in to local radio stations for giveaways. Additionally, fans can submit an entry to win one ticket here.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35PM ET on ABC.

In other Metallica news, Metro News asked frontman James Hetfield about the current state of ticket scalping and if he feels online ticket sellers have a responsibility to prevent this from happening. "Technology can help, for sure," he said.

"Gosh, the way certain things work with security online ... it's harder for me to get onto an airplane. It's hard to believe something more can't be done," Hetfield continued. "There's legal scalping out there too, which is kind of frustrating — your Stubhubs and what not — all the sudden, 'Hey wow, we just sold 10,000 tickets. And where did they go? To one place? Interesting.' We're aware of it and doing what we can. At the end of the day the fan gets screwed and we get screwed. That shouldn't happen."

Metallica have yet to announce a full blown North American tour routing, through bassist Robert Trujillo did suggest the band would be embarking on a stadium tour this summer. The band has been playing intimate shows lately and have booked a gig at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on Dec. 15. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and food donations will be collected at the concert as well. Get more details here.
