For those men of the modern era, it is pretty much commonplace to take an active part in the process of childbirth with your wife. When my wife was pregnant, Lamaze classes were the "thing" so that you could practice breathing and the birthing technique. She was kind enough to let me off the hook as long as i was in the room for the birth itself. I was happy to be there to stroke her hair, hold her hand and be called every name in the book for putting her through the misery that she experienced during the birth of our rather large sons. At no point in time did I question the pain nor did I ever think that it was exaggerated or something that I wished to experience.

I could have saved these two guys a lot of pain and agony if they had just called.

For all the new dads out there, be supportive and be happy you don't have to go through this...ever.
