A DC-10 jet aircraft configured to fight wildfires will base its operations at Casper/Natrona County International Airport. The “10 Tanker Air Carrier” was used last year on the Sheep Herder Hill Fire, along with the Jackson Canyon fires and helped suppressed wildfires in Nebraska, South Dakota and other areas.

Weighing in at 385,000 pounds, the DC-10 is capable of dropping just under 12,000 gallons of retardant on fires.

10 Tanker Air Carrier President/CEO Rick Hatton said the Casper/Natrona County International Airport and its’ operational environment and the central Wyoming location is truly an ideal location for our company providing improved response times to the mountain west region.

He added that the move will allow increased utilization of his company’s aircraft and services as a national asset. Hatton said he looked forward to becoming a part of the Casper community.
