CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming lawmakers are planning to sponsor a number of bills that would loosen restrictions on marijuana.

Many of the bills are similar to measures introduced and defeated in previous legislative sessions.

Bills planned for the 2016 session, which begins in February, include a decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana, a bill recognizing medical marijuana cards for out of state residents traveling through Wyoming, legalizing non-psychoactive marijuana extracts for pain and an initiative to make it illegal to ask on job applications whether a person has been convicted of a crime.

Many Wyoming lawmakers and residents are against marijuana reforms, with a University of Wyoming poll last year showing 60 percent of residents surveyed are opposed to recreational marijuana, though 72 percent support medical use.
