In what is the very definition of achieving the 2014 American dream, a man has reached out to the internet for their support of his lofty endeavor -- making a mean batch of potato salad. And did they ever deliver.

A man by the name of Zack Danger Brown launched a Kickstarter campaign in his quest of making his first batch of the creamy side dish. Supporters have responded with a resounding fury and surpassed the $10 goal in just one day. In fact, the campaign has currently been supported by nearly 5,000 people in 20 different countries who have pledged over $70,000 and counting.

Yes, you read that right. The man blew past his goal by 700,000%.

Promises in support of his project include:

  • Saying your name out loud while making the potato salad
  • Receiving a bite of the potato salad
  • Signed jar of mayonnaise
  • Potato salad-themed hat
  • Much, much more

Be warned, there are some risks and challenges associated with this campaign. Brown admits, "It might not be that good. It's my first potato salad."

The project doesn't end until August 2, so with the campaign going as viral as it has in such a short amount of time, the sky is the limit on what he can realistically raise. In fact, he was featured on 'Good Morning America' on Tuesday (7/8), so we get the feeling this thing is just getting started. When asked what he was going to do with the obscene amount of money the campaign has raised, he said he wanted to use his newfound fame "to take this moment, this campaign, and this money and do the most good with it."
