Its been more than a decade since Lynyrd Skynyrd has performed on CMT's Crossroads, the very popular performance series.

On June 5th the Southern rockers will tape their upcoming show with country star Brantley Gilbert. The episode will premiere on Saturday, June 27th, at 10pm ET.

Skynyrd last appeared on Crossroads back in December 2004, with country duo Montgomery Gentry.

So why make an appearance after this much time has passed?

"We hear Brantley is a big Skynyrd fan, so that excites us," founding Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington tells USA Today. "Brantley is also one of those rebels of country music, kind of like us, so we will get along just fine."

Gilbert, meanwhile, says one of the songs he's most excited about performing is the Skynyrd deep cut "Simple Man."
